These photographs are of new sawn yorkstone paving, newly riven yorkstone paving and white granite steps.

The pictures of finished and nearly finished projects using reclaimed and new sawn yorkstone supplied by Stone Heritage are on the gallery page. Most of the photographs on the gallery page were taken either by the landscapers, designers or their clients.

Yorkstone occurs in a variety of colours predominantly buff or grey, but with some coarser stone being pink and some finer grained yorkstone, predominantly buff. The markings vary from the plain to shaded, swirls or bands of orange, whilst textures range from fine–grained sandstone to coarse–grained gritstone.

Reclaimed York Stone:

We reclaim old yorkstone paving , when possible from pavements, which were produced to a specification and were checked by the local authority’s Clerk of Works and we reclaim yorkstone paving from gardens, paths, in fact we will reclaim old yorkstone paving from any out door public or private space when available. It is the weathering process that gives yorkstone its beautiful distinctive appearence. 

I avoid all yorkstone flags from mills because of the contamination which is usualy lubricating oil, the machinery in old mills leaked generously all over the yorkstone floors. I also avoid yorkstone from houses often known as cellar flags because the thinness and lack of weathering often makes them brittle and less attractive.

We also keep a stock pile of reclaimed gritstone setts which are nominally 125mm (5”) by 150mm (6”) by lengths between 125mm and 200mm (8”)

Gritstone kerb 300mm (12”) by 200mm (8”), is usually available from stock, are often used as solid steps as well as road edging.
 

Reclaimed Granite

We have in stock 120 metres of magnificent reclaimed white Granite steps 300mm (12”) by 150mm (6”) in varying lengths upto 3 metrs at £45.00 per metre. (see the photographs of them stacked on pallets in the stone in stock album on the gallery page)

We hold stocks of reclaimed granite setts and cubes and kerb.

 

LimeStone

Limestone paving, (some hard enough to be polished) including interesting stone with large fossils is also available and is sourced from a number of quarries and is used for most indoor and outdoor applications.
 

New York Stone

 

Yorkstone paving , steps, coping, pier caps, hearthstones, walling, etc. are cut to specification.
The price of  sawn new yorkstone paving starts from £82.50 per square metre and riven from £80.00 per square metre.
